Hey there,
Do you ever feel wiped out after spending time in a crowd?
Or maybe you’ve been called “too sensitive” because you pick up on other people’s emotions like a sponge?
If that sounds familiar, I get it because I’ve lived it too.
Let me tell you a quick story.
A few years back, I went to a family reunion.
You know the kind: tons of hugs, old stories, and way too many opinions flying around.
At first, I was all in.
I love my family (even that one uncle who has way too many conspiracy theories that aren’t mine).
But by the end of the day, I felt like I’d run a marathon.
I wasn’t just tired. I was drained.
It was like I’d soaked up every person’s emotions…
Every worry, every argument, every awkward interaction.
When I finally got home, I looked in the mirror and saw my reflection…
I looked kind of haunted.
That was my wake-up call.
I realized I wasn’t just physically exhausted.
I’d been emotionally and energetically overloaded.
I spent years working on my spiritual connection and opening my third eye…
So I knew I needed a strategy to protect my energy while still staying connected to the people I love.
And that, my friend, is what I want to talk about today:
Empaths and how to protect your energy so you can recharge.
Because if you’re reading this, chances are you know exactly what I’m talking about.
An empath is someone who doesn’t just notice other people’s emotions.
They feel them.
It’s like having your radio dial permanently tuned to the emotional frequency of the people around you.
And while this can make you incredibly compassionate and intuitive…
It can also leave you overwhelmed, anxious, or just plain exhausted.
Sound familiar? If so, you’re not alone.
Being an empath is both a gift and a challenge.
It allows you to connect deeply with others, but it also makes you vulnerable to emotional overload.
Without proper boundaries, you might find yourself constantly running on empty…
Unsure where your energy ends and other people’s begins.
Now here’s where it gets really interesting.
Your pineal gland plays a crucial role in managing your energetic boundaries.
As the “third eye,” it’s responsible not just for intuition and spiritual connection…
But also for regulating the flow of energy between you and the world around you.
Think of your pineal gland as a gatekeeper for your energy field.
When it’s functioning properly, it helps you stay grounded and centered…
Filtering out energy that doesn’t belong to you.
But if your pineal gland is clogged up with fluoride or other toxins (as so many of ours are)…
That filter stops working the way it should.
Suddenly, every emotional wave from the people around you crashes right into your system…
Leaving you feeling frazzled and overwhelmed.
That’s why it’s so important.
(Especially if you’re an empath)
To keep your pineal gland clear and healthy.
When it’s working well, you can open your heart without burning yourself out.
Okay, so let’s talk about solutions.
What can you do to protect your energy while still staying open to meaningful connections?
Here are a few of my favorite strategies:
This might sound a little “out there,” but stay with me… It works.
Before heading into a situation where you know you’ll be around a lot of people…
Take a moment to close your eyes and imagine a glowing bubble of light surrounding you.
This bubble is your personal energy field.
Nothing can get through unless you allow it.
You can even imagine your bubble as a specific color:
Blue for calm, gold for strength, or purple to connect with your third eye.
It’s a quick way to set an energetic boundary and remind yourself that you control what comes in.
When you feel overwhelmed, your energy is scattered…
Like a radio picking up static from too many stations.
A few minutes of deep breathing can help you come back to yourself.
Inhale deeply through your nose, hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly through your mouth.
This simple practice brings your attention back to your body and clears out any chaotic energy you’ve picked up.
Bonus points if you can do this while standing barefoot on the ground!
Nature has an incredible way of grounding us.
Every empath needs a safe space to retreat to…
A place where you can unplug from the world and recharge your batteries.
This might be a meditation corner, a quiet room, or even just a cozy spot by the window.
Fill this space with things that make you feel calm and centered:
Crystals, incense, a journal, or your favorite music.
Spend time here regularly, even if it’s just for a few minutes each day.
Your soul will thank you.
Remember, your pineal gland is your energetic gatekeeper, and meditation is one of the best ways to activate and clear it.
Try this: close your eyes, focus on the area between your eyebrows (where your third eye resides)…
And imagine a soft light glowing there.
With each breath, see that light getting brighter and clearer.
The more you activate your pineal gland, the better you’ll become at filtering out emotional noise from others.
So, how are you doing with all of this?
Do you find it easy to protect your energy, or is it a constant struggle?
Have you noticed certain places or people that drain you more than others?
Hit reply and let me know.
I read every message and love connecting with people on this journey.
Look, being an empath isn’t easy.
But it’s a gift, even if it doesn’t always feel that way.
When you take care of your energy and keep your pineal gland healthy…
You’re able to show up fully in the world without getting burned out.
You’ll have more to give, and you’ll feel more connected to your true self.
And that’s the sweet spot, isn’t it?
When you’re centered, grounded, and open…
Life flows in a way that feels right.
You’re not just surviving. You’re thriving.
See you next time,
Eric Thompson
